December 2004The Avonbelles competed once again in this years LABBS Convention. Forty choruses competed in this years competition, making it a very long day for the judges! We were pleased with our scores and we are looking forward to competing in next years regional Prelims in Bath, in May. The chorus is currently fundraising as we desparately need some new stage risers. Pat Whites husband has designed some light and easily transportable risers, but we need as much money as possible to be able to get them made. We have had a few fantastic fundraising events. Most recently, a 1940's theme night was organised, and over £700 was raised towards the riser fund! Congratulations to all those involved in these fundraising events. What a fantastic effort you are making. Keep up the good work. This year has been a year of good and bad news. We have had a stack of new members, including Mandy Rogers, Lindsay Dutton, Sarah Moore, Nicky, and Helen visited last week and seems very keen! It is great to have some new young faces among the chorus. Unfortunately this year, the chorus lost longstanding mamber Pat Faulks who lost her long battle and sadly passed away in September. Pat was a member of the chorus for many years, had been Bass section leader, wardrobe mistress and great friend to many of the chrous. She will be very sadly missed |
