June 2005There has been some major changes within the Avonbelles over the last few months. Unfortunately, Mike Peters decided that it was time for him to step down from his role as Musical Director of the Avonbelles. He will be greatly missed by the chorus as he has worked tirelessly for four years with us and I know that we have enjoyed every minute. Thanks Mike for all your time, hard work and most of all for all the great times we all had togother. You are going to be greatly missed. In addition to Mike leaving, his wife Norma is also leaving us. During her time with the chorus, Norma became a crucial member of our committee playing a vital role in our fundraising events, and more importantly, spending a number of years as our wardrobe mistress. It is a thankless job which Norma did with great aplomb. Thanks Norma for all your hard work. We hope Mike and yourself will enjoy your retirement! As a consequence of Mike leaving, we welcome as our new Musical Director Caroline Bamford. Caroline has sung with the Avonebelles for just over 10 years. When Mike took over as Musical Director, she was kindly asked to become Assistant Muscial Director and with Mikes tuition and guidance, she went from strength to strength. Caroline is looking forward to everything she has to learn over the coming months. Goodluck with your new role as Musical Director! The role of Assistant Musical Director also became vacant. Much to Caroline's, and everyone elses delight, Norma Head agreed to take on this role. Norma returned to the Avonbelles a few years ago and has been singing within the baritone section. She has many years of experience, and will be a great support to Caroline over the next months and years. Thanks Norma! |
