Three-Chorus Party Night

<back

1st May 2008

On the evening of the first of May the Avonbelles hosted the most recent three-chorus party night at the WISE Campus in Filton. Our friends from Fascinating Rhythm and Bristol Fashion joined us and there was a lovely spread of food with contributions from everyone.

We began by singing together but had the supper break quite soon after starting as some ladies had come straight from work and were very hungry! We then enjoyed more singing together and this was followed by a very important event - the presentation of a gift to Audrey Akroyd who is 'stepping down from the risers' after 33 years!

The evening then continued with some individual 'spots', with Noey bravely being the first to volunteer, singing 'You've Got a Friend' with guitar accompaniment.

This was followed by some fun 'community singing' led by Emma, Lesley, Brenda and Dot from Fascinating Rhythm (otherwise known as the quartet 'Dilemma'); a couple of items from each individual chorus; quartet 'Dilemma'; members of the Ivy League (national female youth chorus), guest Great Western Chorus male quartet, and a scratch quartet 'Three Old 'Uns and a Young 'un' (Pearl, Norma, Gill and Tash from the Avonbelles). Unfortunately Gold Medal Ladies Quartet, 'Havoc' were unable to sing for us as Linda had a bad throat.

The evening was rounded of with - you've guessed it - more singing together!

The company, the singing, and the food were all great and the bar prices were very reasonable - what more could anyone wish for?
